Spring arrives in Torridon

Spring arrives in Torridon

Daffodils are in full bloom all around the hotel, the Inn is now open again for the 2009 season, the staff is steadily growing in number again and all this can mean only one thing, that Spring has arrived. Always a time for new beginnings, we are looking forward to the year ahead. Undoubtedly the coming year will be a challenging one in many ways, but we are really consolidating on all our efforts over the past years and aiming to do what we know we do best - offer relaxed, attentive, professional service which for many of our guests is synonymous with the Torridon.

Keep watching this space as there could well be exciting developments for those who subscribe to both our blog and this newsletter, as well as our special offers, great value ways to stay with us and enjoy a little luxurious retreat.

The new-look Torridon Inn re-opens

The new-look Torridon Inn re-opens

On Friday 27th March, the all new Torridon Inn re-opened its doors for the first time this year. It was admittedly an eleventh hour completion of works, however we are truly delighted with the results. The bar area has been divided into smaller areas to provide a much cosier, intimate atmosphere, somethign which is carried through into the restaurant area also. With completely new wood panelling, the building really has a highland feel to it and this was reflected in the comments of those who enjoyed the first weekend's hospitality.

With a new couple at the helm, James Berry as head chef and Magda Zorawski looking after the front of house area, it really is a completely fresh start and we are all very excited about the coming months.

The Torridon Fold goes from strength to strength

The Torridon Fold goes from strength to strength

Most of you will remember the news that the first of our Highlands Cattle calves had arrived. We can now report that we have five healthy calves running around in our field, entertaining guests on a daily basis. They have now come to be known as the 'famous five' and really are getting along very well. Make sure you slow down briefly on your way up the drive next time to take a look and the new boys and girls!

Gardener's corner

Gardener's corner

Spring blossom lifts the spirits and the early flowers on the cherry and plum trees around the Torridon grounds have been bright and breezy against blue skies. In the cut flower borders red, purple, yellow and parrot flower tulips have been opening up and providing restaraunt staff with the first of our own flowers for their vases. Bumblebees and peacock butterflies have been enjoying nectar from the drumstick primulas and the chefs have been creating table decorations for an easter wedding using foilage and flowers from the kitchen garden.

Busy bees, busy butterflies and busy enjoyable spring time with everything and everyone quickening their steps to a livelier beat.

Feel free to take a wander to the kitchen garden next time you stay - I look forward to meeting you all.

Les
