Chef Kevin Broome and his team have won another award to add to the collection! In September we won British Cheese Awards Best Restaurant Cheeseboard 2007. Kevin said 'for me any great meal should include cheese. It is even better when the cheese comes from the local area, supporting artisans whose only goal is to produce fine cheeses'. Naturally we are delighted that Kevin's determination to source the very finest of local produce is being recognised at a national level. We reopen after our winter closure on Friday 25th January and this is an ideal opportunity to celebrate an evening dedicated to Scotland's poetic hero, Robert Burns. Some of you may be familiar with the format of a traditional Burn's supper - if not, why not come for a true highland experience, good food and good company included! Not only has Kevin created a wonderful six course contemporary Scottish menu, but we are also able to offer some very special room rates. Three budding artists spent last weekend brushing up their painting skills with artist Leone Cockburn. With tips on oil paint mixing, brush technique, shading and colours, the students learnt a great deal and some of the resulting work was excellent! Course participant Diane Munro said 'thank you to Leone for providing expert guidance and to the hotel for creating the perfect ambiance for a wonderfully relaxing, enjoyable and most of all informative day'. With the day being such a success we are looking to repeat this in 2008 - let us know if you would be interested in taking part! |
